Chanukah

begins at sunset on the eve of Kislev 25, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 and ends, sundown on Tevet 2, January 2, 2025

Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-night holiday that recalls the miracle of the supply of oil for the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Learn of the valor of the Maccabees, the supply of oil for the rededication of the Temple, their victory over the Greek-Syrian oppressors. 

There will be lighting the Chanukah menorah, games, and traditional foods.

2:30 PM—Golden Harbor Chinese Buffet

5:00 PM—At the Synagogue

Join EEMC’s annual December 25th meal at Golden Harbor at 3272 W Shaw at Valentine, then continue to the synagogue. Begin Chanukah with the blessings and lighting the first candle, games and fun. Chanukah desserts.

Shabbat service including a special holiday message. Chanukkah foods. Following Oneg, watch the Hallmark movie “Hanukkah on Rye.” Light the fourth candle.

3:30 PM—At the Synagogue

Soups, snacks and desserts. Fellowship. Watch the Hallmark movie “Full-Court Miracle.” Light the eight candles together.
