The Haftarah is a portion of the Scripture from the Prophets and is read during the synagogue service after the Torah is read. From time to time this portion is read during Emek Elohim’s Shabbat service.
The first reference to the Haftarah in the B’rit Chadashah is in Luke 4:16-17 CJB:
Now when he went to Natzeret, where he had been brought up, on Shabbat he went to the synagogue as usual. He stood up to read, and he was given the scroll of the prophet Yeshayahu. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written, …
So by the time of Yeshua, reading from the Haftarah, the Prophets, was part of the synagogue service.
